A single continuous line, searching for somewhere steadier, carrying the message on a worn and neutral background. The answer is already there though. Art as a way of survival. Art is a way of survival.
Created by the pebble pushing technique, shown in a previous blog post, this is one of my favourite results from the process. The scanned drawing layered over a photograph of an old wall in the neighbourhood brings it all together.
This week, a look behind The Turning Ground series I have been working on.
It all begins simply: markers, yellow paper, a few words that catch a feeling. From there, everything shifts, is scanned, layered, and reworked digitally until the energy of those first lines finds its rhythm again in light and texture.
Once on the computer, the scan is blended with photographs, in this instance, photographs of two walls in the neighbourhood, bringing traces of place, surface, and time into the work.
For me, this part of the process is all about transformation and the balance between hand and software, intuition and refinement, seeing how an everyday act of writing can become something reflective, visual, alive.
From pen to pixel. The Turning Ground continues to grow.

The Turning Ground sigue creciendo.
