Today’s update is something especially close to the heart that featured recently on a process / inspiration post.
A Tree Through the Generations is now available as a greeting card (A6 & A5), a piece that began decades ago with a quiet painting by my grandmother, Mary Castle. Her original tree, rooted and patient, became the foundation for a new digital reimagining, created through layers of colour, light, and texture.
This card carries both artworks in conversation: The first, painted by hand and the second, rebuilt through my process of blending layers of colour (including a layer by artist Anna Bellinger), and light.
It’s a reminder of how memory travels, how creativity continues, and how art can move through time and still feel new. Whether sent as a message or framed as its own artwork, this card holds a story of connection and renewal.

La actualización de hoy es algo especialmente cercano al corazón, que apareció recientemente en una publicación sobre proceso e inspiración.
A Tree Through the Generations ya está disponible como tarjeta de felicitación (A6 y A5), una pieza que comenzó hace décadas con una tranquila pintura de mi abuela, Mary Castle. Su árbol original, arraigado y paciente, se convirtió en la base de una nueva reinterpretación digital, creada a través de capas de color, luz y textura.
Esta tarjeta reúne ambas obras en diálogo: la primera, pintada a mano, y la segunda, reconstruida mediante mi proceso de mezcla de capas de color (incluyendo una capa de la artista Anna Bellinger) y luz.
Es un recordatorio de cómo la memoria viaja, cómo la creatividad continúa y cómo el arte puede atravesar el tiempo y seguir sintiéndose nuevo. Ya sea enviada como mensaje o enmarcada como una obra en sí misma, esta tarjeta guarda una historia de conexión y renovación.
Introducing Clarence Greenway: Writing and poetry on the COAST of LIGHT
Since 2021, Clarence has published three books under HERONBAM, currently available on Amazon as Kindle editions and soon to be released in print.
Process & Inspiration
Most of Clarence’s writing begins outdoors, in the garden, surrounded by light and sound: thoughts arriving between the flight and song of birds, the rustle of leaves, and the soft turning of the day.
Writing, for Clarence, is an act of quiet attention — a way of grounding the senses and shaping them into rhythm and reflection. Some pieces grow from a single image; others from the feeling of simply being there, open to what the world is offering.

And our life is understood, our life is love in its simplest form: enough to last a lifetime, enough to sink a battleship beneath the sound of flapping bird wings and the songs of the serin on our rooftop.
And our life is balanced, a friendship still flowering, a charcoal reveller dancing through the distorted fight beneath the accentuated light.
And our life is a metaphor, brittle branches protected from the elements and the roots of evil. We are space and fortune, yet to be washed away by the sea, yet to be taken by the skies.
And our life is getting ourselves together beneath the silhouettes of storks in the lowering sun, bringing best wishes from parents tying up the ends of lives.
And our life is precious beneath the surface — each day as precious as the last,
because you never know.

La mayor parte de la escritura de Clarence comienza al aire libre — en el jardín, rodeado de luz y sonido: pensamientos que llegan entre el vuelo y el canto de los pájaros, el susurro de las hojas y el suave giro del día.

Each month features a favourite artwork from the COAST of LIGHT collection all rooted in light, nature, and place. I’ve tried to make something that feels calm, poetic, and seasonal that brings a splash of colour to your wall.
