  • Mapping Creative Inspiration From Daily Prompts

This week, inspired by maps as works of art, particularly those by Grayson Perry, I set out to create some of my own.

This first piece incorporates all of my daily prompts (see previous blog post), woven into a minimal map of where I live. I wanted the work to feel part mind map, part emotional landscape.

The piece is an attempt to geographically map my creative inspiration and surroundings, serving as a visual reminder of where, and from what, my creativity emerges around where I live.

  • Daily Prompts for Creative Practice

Inspired by the coast, interpreted anywhere.
A new project for inspiration, starting today.

The COAST of LIGHT prompts are a simple framework for an ongoing creative practice.

They grew out of my own creative process and the places where I find inspiration, something I’ll be reflecting on along the way.

The same prompts will return each month, with occasional developments and new colour palettes.

Everything is open to interpretation, so respond however you like, wherever you are: take photographs, record sounds, sketch shapes or lines, and so on.

The aim isn’t to post every day, but to observe and build creative rhythm and consistency. Focus on one prompt a week or one prompt a month, exploring the full set over time.

Another burst of colour is added to the COAST of LIGHT collection with The Cherry Tree, inspired by a recent trip to Cabañas entre Castaños near Jubrique in Malaga province.

This piece captures the fleeting beauty of blossom in full bloom, something we were lucky enough to experience during our stay. Being surrounded by it, even briefly, felt both calming and up-lifting.

Created by layering photographs, The Cherry Tree is now available in the Etsy shop, another colourful artwork rooted in the natural light and atmosphere of the COAST of LIGHT.

  • Sunshine Yellow

Sunshine Yellow, created during last years BIG ADVENT ART CHALLENGE, captures a quiet coastal moment where warm light, soft sand, and still water meet.

Guided by a simple path to the sea, the digital composition brings a sense of calm and clarity to brighten your day and your space.

The artwork was first inspired by colour, which was then layered over a beach scene I had photographed a few days before. The original title was Perfection Until the End and A Deep Ocean Blue inverted version was also created but is as yet, unreleased.

Sunshine Yellow is available now in the shop.
