Today’s update is something especially close to the heart that featured recently on a process / inspiration post.
A Tree Through the Generations is now available as a greeting card (A6 & A5), a piece that began decades ago with a quiet painting by my grandmother, Mary Castle. Her original tree, rooted, patient, softly alive, became the foundation for a new digital reimagining, created through layers of colour, light, and texture.
This card carries both artworks in conversation:
the first, painted by hand;
the second, rebuilt through my process of blending photographs, brushstrokes (including a layer by Anna Bellinger), and light.
It’s a small piece of legacy — a reminder of how memory travels, how creativity continues, and how art can move through time and still feel new.
Whether sent as a message or framed as its own artwork, this card holds a story of connection and renewal.

La actualización de hoy es algo especialmente cercano al corazón y que apareció recientemente en una publicación de proceso / inspiración.
A Tree Through the Generations ya está disponible como tarjeta (A6 y A5), una pieza que comenzó hace décadas con una pintura tranquila de mi abuela, Mary Castle. Su árbol original — arraigado, paciente, silenciosamente vivo — se convirtió en la base de una nueva reinterpretación digital, creada mediante capas de color, luz y textura.
Esta tarjeta mantiene ambas obras en conversación:
la primera, pintada a mano;
la segunda, reconstruida a través de mi proceso de mezclar fotografías, pinceladas (incluida una capa de Anna Bellinger) y luz.
Es una pequeña pieza de legado — un recordatorio de cómo viaja la memoria, cómo la creatividad continúa y cómo el arte puede moverse a través del tiempo y seguir sintiéndose nuevo.

Process & Inspiration (versión en español abajo)
This week, a look behind The Turning Ground series.
It all begins simply: markers, yellow paper, a few words that catch a feeling. From there, everything shifts, is scanned, layered, and reworked digitally until the energy of those first lines finds its rhythm again in light and texture.
Once on the computer, the scan is blended with photographs, in this instance, photographs of two walls in the neighbourhood, bringing traces of place, surface, and time into the work.
For me, this part of the process is all about transformation and the balance between hand and software, intuition and refinement, seeing how an everyday act of writing can become something reflective, visual, alive.
From pen to pixel. The Turning Ground continues to grow.

Esta semana, una mirada detrás de la serie The Turning Ground.
Todo empieza de forma sencilla: rotuladores, papel amarillo y unas palabras que atrapan una emoción. A partir de ahí, todo cambia, se escanea, se superpone y se transforma digitalmente hasta que la energía de esas primeras líneas vuelve a encontrar su ritmo en la luz y la textura.
Ya en el ordenador, la imagen escaneada se mezcla con fotografías, en este caso, fotografías de dos muros del barrio, aportando huellas de lugar, superficie y tiempo a la obra.
Para mí, esta parte del proceso trata de la transformación, el equilibrio entre la mano y el software, la intuición y el refinamiento, viendo cómo un simple acto de escribir puede convertirse en algo visual, reflexivo y lleno de vida.
